Downtown bar going Key West with boozy battle

It is almost time to roll out the rainbow carpet.

MJ on Jefferson, 20 Jefferson St., will be transformed to host a Key West Cocktail Classic regional challenge Monday, May 1.

The free event is 9 p.m. to midnight.

Rachel Anne Jensen of Republic National Distributing Co. said Stoli's LGBT team selected 36 LGBT bars in the United States and Canada to host challenges.

“Team Stoli puts a lot of research into the cities they choose, and Dayton has one hell of a reputation for their love of vodka and their love and support of the LGBT Community,” Jensen told this news organization. "Stoli will be giving MJs a huge makeover for this event including rolling out the rainbow carpet.”

The first 100 people to RSVP and be checked in by 9:30 p.m. will receive a Stoli drink ticket and a wristband to sample all competing cocktails.

Six LGBT bartenders from Ohio will compete to win an all-expense paid trip to the finals in the fourth annual Key West Cocktail Classic in Florida.

“The competing bartenders will be graded on their theme, their drink, and their knowledge of Stoli,” Jensen said.

They will be judged by the audience & a panel of local celebrity judges this include Dayton.com's Amelia Robinson, Century Bar co-owner Joseph Head and Joshua Stucky of the Rubi Girls drag troupe.

Patrik Galineaux, Stoli’s LGBT ambassador, will host the event.  Dia Elektra is set to perform live.
