MetroParks Executive Director Becky Benná, Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley, and 2nd Street Market Manager Jimmy Harless will speak at the event.
“The market is a community gathering place,” Harless said in a release. “With such a diverse customer base, we find the most important thing our customers and vendors share is a sense of family.”
Harless said the 2nd Street Market “has established itself as an anchor for downtown Dayton’s revitalization, and we look forward to a prosperous future serving the community.”

The market is housed in a renovated freight house and features a variety of local growers, producers, artisans and prepared-food vendors. Five Rivers MetroParks officials said the market’s vendors provide Dayton-area residents with convenient access to local food, which is less damaging to the environment and often healthier.
The 2nd Street Market was named the "Best Farmers Market" in the 2016 Best of Ohio Readers' Ballot conducted by Ohio Magazine. It is open Thursday and Friday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., with special events throughout the year, including an upcoming "Stock Up Wednesday" from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 23, the day before Thanksgiving.
