All the holiday feels at December First Friday this week

The holiday fun downtown continues this weekend at the monthly First Friday event from 5-10 p.m. Dec. 2.

Here’s what you can expect at the December Christmas Festival on Dayton Courthouse Square event this weekend. 

EXCLUSIVE to this time of year: 

Dayton Visual Arts Center located at 118 N Jefferson St. will be hosting its first Holiday Gift Gallery Trunk Show. Dianne Collinson created graphic botanical-new ceramic that will be sold only on Dec. 2 and 3. The location for this event is 138 S. Wilkinson St. For more information on this event, call 937-224-3822.

A gallery art show at the NorthGate will be held in celebration of local artisans, makers and small businesses offer live music, hors d'oeuvres, Woodburl coffee and lattes, along with shopping. The event starts at 6 P.M. at 138 S. Wilkinson St. Call 937-641-8332 for more information.

The Old Yellow Cab Building located at 700 E. Fourth St. will feature over 30 talented local artisans who are selling handmade items. Handmade Holiday Dayton is the title of this event and you will be able to enjoy local craft beer, swag bags, raffles and food trucks.

What else? 

Like always, First Friday will include special events at art galleries, entertainers, contests, shopping, food, drinks and more.

ART: 

Color of Energy Gallery will be held at 16 Brown St. and will feature a new artist and holiday baked treats.

Dayton Society of Artists "Intact Part 2" will be at 48 High St. and will begin at 5 p.m. This event is in support of WSU graduate Heather Lea Reid.

The Front Street Building Co. located at 1001 E. Second St. will have over two dozen art studios and artists all in one location. Painters, sculptors, glass makers, jewelry makers and much more. Call 937-331-9061 for more information.

K12 Gallery & Tejas will allow time to meet the artists that created pieces from the exhibit that will be displayed. You also will be able to create a work of art to take home, or shop while enjoying refreshments and music. The event starts at 6:30 P.M. at 341 S. Music: 

Blind Bobs will feature performances by Founding Father and KTB. Dublin Pub will be hosting happy hour from 3-6 P.M. with performances by Miami Valley Pipes and Drums, the Rice Brothers and a Celtic music group from Columbus specializing in Celtic Folk, Americana, Rock and Country genres. The Oregon Express will be hosting a performance by Linda Prevo Band at 6:30 p.m. with 25 percent off specialty pizzas.

De'Lish Café at 139 E. Main St. will be unplugged with live soul, jazz and R&B music from 9-11 P.M. with no cover charge and $5 drink specials all night.

Gilly's is having Old Skool Groove Night at 8 p.m. Admission is $5. Gilly's is located at 132 S. Jefferson St.

Entertainment: 

Bike ride with a group at Courteous Mass Dayton at 6:30 P.M. The ride begins at 220 N. Patterson Blvd, the Don Crawford Plaza. Or join Link Dayton Bike Share at 4 S. Main St. for the second-annual Link Dayton Bike Share Winter Warrior Challenge and win prizes the longer you ride. Call 937-496-3825 for more information about the Winter Warrior Challenge.

Action hits the stage at Dayton Theatre Guild in the performance of "The Unavoidable Disappearance of Tom Durin" that will be shown at 430 Wayne Ave. "Jailbait", acted by The Playground Theatre Co. is a complicated and dark comedic story about the illusion of intimacy at any age begins at 8 P.M. The Trolley Stop will host its own musical at 530 E. Fifth St. with "Trolley Hour" featuring $5 appetizer specials and a photo booth featuring "bad Santa."

Enjoy a night of comedy by Andrew Frank beginning at 8 p.m. for $10 at Wiley's Comedy Joint located at 101 Pine St.

The Dayton Chess Club at 18 W. Fifth St. will host a quick tournament for U.S. Chess Federation members. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and registration ends at 7:25 p.m.

Food

Deaf Monty's Wine, 22 Brown St.: $2-$3 tastings of select wines.

Fifth Street Brewpub, 1600 E. Fifth St. Pub grub specials from 4-5 p.m. and happy hour ($1 off all draft beer and wine and $1 off all sharing plates) from 4-6 p.m.
