The small town of Fairborn hosts one of the biggest Halloween festivals near Dayton

Fairborn is proud to throw the biggest Halloween festival in the Miami Valley, attracting more than 10,000 visitors per year.

Patrons are treated to live music, food and drink, trick-or-treating, activities, a parade, Foy’s Haunted Museum, a costume contest, rides, street vendors and downtown shopping Oct. 18-20.

For the first time in 2019, beer drinking will not be restricted to the beer garden. Once you make your purchase, you’ll be able to take it with you throughout the festival, so with that in mind …

🍺1. THE BEER

Heidelberg and Dayton’s Warped Wing will be providing the suds for the fest in the beer garden, located at the corner of Main Street and Grand Avenue.

Beer garden hours are 5-10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

The city of Fairborn has established a Fairborn Outdoor Refreshment Area downtown for this event, according to the Fairborn Area Chamber of Commerce.

All beverages in the beer garden will be served in FORA cups that explain its rules.

Warped Wing’s featured beers are: Trotwood (lager) Gamma Bomb (IPA) Test Flight Hazy Pale Ale (IPA) CreepShow (smoked porter) Heidelburg will be selling Budweiser, Bud Light and Michelob Ultra.

All beers are $5 for a 16-ounce cup.

😱3. FOY’S HAUNTED MUSEUM 

This haunted house owned by local entrepreneur Mike Foy delivers all kinds of scares – everything from zombies to movie serial killers — that are not for the faint of heart.

Foy’s is open from 6-11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday every weekend during October. Admission is $5 for adults and $4 for kids 13 and younger.

👻4. SPOOKTACULAR PARADE AND ZOMBIE WALK 

Humans and animals can grab their best costume and join the parade that starts at the YMCA and proceeds to the downtown festival stage. There’ll be a costume contest for various age groups, with prizes for first, second and third place.

Categories are adult, family, animal, best couple and scariest. The parade begins at 7 p.m.

If you plan on dressing as a zombie, join the zombie walk at 10 p.m., where you can pretend you’re part of ‘The Walking Dead.”

On Sunday, trick-or-treating will take place at the booths from 1-2 p.m.

🎤5. LIVE ENTERTAINMENT 

Several bands and dance troupes will perform at the fest. The schedule is:

Friday: 

• Nawty Dog (blues/classic rock) – 5:30-6:30 p.m.

• Retrobution (1980s covers) – 8:30-10:30 p.m.

Saturday: 

• Richens/Timm Academy of Irish Dance – noon-12:30 p.m.

• Lifted Lotus Dance Company – 1 p.m.

• Quest Dance Center – 3 p.m.

• Rock It 88 (classic rock/oldies) – 5-6 p.m.

• Mad River Dogs (Americana) – 6-7:30 p.m.

• Beesly (pop/rock) – 8-10 p.m.
