FSB is Ohio’s first co-op brewery. It is open to the public, but its 3,200-plus enjoy perks and discounts not available to non-members.

Tony Clark, a founding board member of FSB who also served a recent stint as president, told this news outlet that the fifth birthday “is simply a perfect milestone to step back and reflect on the progress we have made.

“It is hard for me to believe that in just five years such a small group of people, with very little practical service industry experience, has been able to take a horrendous building and turn it into something so positive and wonderful! I have enjoyed watching us evolve from a bar with food trucks to an award-winning brewery and restaurant.”

“These last five years have gone much better than I had planned!! Of course, the progress hasn’t always been as quick or as efficient as I would have liked. However, looking back, from where we started to where we are now, we have accomplished so much more than I realistically thought possible. I think we all should be proud of the money we have raised for charities, the volunteer hours we have given to the community, and for our help in the progress of the St. Anne’s Hill Historic District while providing great food, great drink, and great service to our customers!”

Darren Link, FSB’s head brewer, said, “I’m very appreciative of Fifth Street Brewpub for taking a chance on me in the early years of the co-op. … When I fired up the FSB brew house for the first time three years ago, I was extremely nervous about going from five-gallon batches to seven barrels, but after 180 batches, I feel it’s important to keep learning new things.”
