The first free cone day dates back to 1979 at the Burlington, VT, location.
Franchise owner for Dayton's Ben & Jerry's Adam Wilcutt said the scoop shop will once again partner with the local non-profit Shoes4theShoeless.

“Each Ben & Jerry’s scoop shop partners with a local non-profit. We have partnered with Shoes4theShoeless for the past few years and will be doing so again this year. All donations that day go directly to them.”
In previous years, the event has raised between $1,000 and $1,500 for the charity, Wilcutt said this morning.
