The venue that used to house VEX is rising from the proverbial ashes.

The bar formerly known as the Pearl and VEX has been reincarnated as Cloverdale, a bar specializing in special events, hosting live music, DJs, art shows, fundraisers, car shows, live performance art and more, according to co-organizer Mary Kathryn Burnside's Facebook page.

She notes the space will also have some weekly consistent nights in the near future, and will eventually set regular hours and will be open on a regular basis by the end of summer.

The first of many events scheduled between now and then is a dance party fundraiser to benefit PUSH Dayton.

The party will be DJ'ed by Dustbunny, LowKey and Nordiq, who will take the no-genre-off-limits party "on a spirit quest of dance, while breathing in a sneak peak of the Cloverdale, Dayton's newest band/dance/event venue in the Oregon District! Dance, drink, canoodle with friends, and talk with PUSH and Ladyfest Dayton reps to meet new folks in your community and see what you can to volunteer, support, and make new pals."

This event will be ages 21 and up with proper identification, with doors opening at 9 p.m. and music until the wee hours. Admission to the event is $5, which will go towards furthering more projects at Cloverdale, and the other fundraising efforts throughout the night will benefit PUSH Dayton and Ladyfest.
