Geek Gala is here to give everyone the chance to relive their childhood by enjoying things that most people might call ‘nerdy.’

The event will take place at Blind Bob’s on Saturday, Jan. 28 in the heart of the Oregon District on Fifth Street.

"From video games on the TVs, to local comedians making you chuckle and groan, and even cosplay, this is going to be a night to come out and have fun for a really great cause," said Josher Lumpkin, Geek Gala organizer.

Proceeds from the Geek Gala will go to Extra Life Dayton. It's a local chapter of a gaming focused charity that is partnered with the Dayton Children's Hospital.

“I’ve been working with Extra Life for about a year,” Lumpkin said. “We’ve almost raised $1,000 locally, but we’re looking to work with a bunch more local businesses this year to help host these sort of fun events.”

Jokes, music, games and prizes are what to expect at this first Geek Gala party.

The event features comedians Joe Young and Mat ThronburgDJ Dustbunny will be spinning some video game-inspired remixes. Raffle prizes and special giveaways will get you excited along with Nintendo 3DS's and a WiiU. Wear a costume for $5 off admission.

"It's been great to see how people have come together already to make this a reality," Lumpkin said. "One of the only things that's left to do is party!"
