We always hear things like, "the holidays are for the children" and "nothing beats the holiday wonder in a child's eyes." Well, bump that. 

I love this time of year, too. I want to act like a child while still being an adult. 

With that in mind, I offer you these holiday-themed events more geared to us bigger kids (adults).

DEC. 2

WHAT: Silent Disco Pub Crawl

WHERE: Oregon District, Dayton

WHEN: 7 p.m.

ABOUT: It's a trend starting to catch on nationwide. Essentially, you're partying with headphones where you choose the music channel you want. You can find more about silent disco here.

COST: $5 (you can register here, but you must bring proper I.D.)

DEC. 2-3

WHERE: Yellow Cab Building, 700 E 4th St, Dayton

WHEN: 5-10 p.m. Dec. 2; 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Dec. 3

ABOUT: More than 30 artists will be on site, giving you the opportunity to give that one-of-a-kind gift this year. Food available for purchase by Smoking Bee-Bee-Cue.

COST: FREE

WHAT: Ice Skating Lessons

WHERE: Riverscape MetroPark Ice Rink, 237 E Monument Ave., Dayton

WHEN: 12 p.m.

ABOUT: This is the adult session. So it's just us grownups slipping and sliding all over the ice for a half hour.

COST: $50 (includes skate rental and lessons)

WHAT: Oregon District Santa Pub Crawl

WHERE: Oregon District (duh!)

WHEN: 5 p.m.

ABOUT: Simply bring an unwrapped $10 child's toy or a $10 donation for the U.S. Marines' Toys for Tots campaign and get a passport to enter each participating bar free of charge. Get your passport stamped by all the bars and enter to win door prizes. Registration begins at 5 p.m. at The Dublin Pub and Oregon Express. A costume contest will be held at Blind Bob's.

COST: $10

WHAT: Bach's Lunch by the Dayton Philharmonic

WHERE: The Loft Theatre (126 N Main St., Dayton)

WHEN: 10 a.m. & 12 p.m.

ABOUT: The Carillon Brass shall perform an eclectic repertoire, including jazz standards, brass-specific compositions, transcribed concert music and traditional holiday favorites. Boxed lunches will be available for $6 from Boston's Bistro for the noon performance.

COST: FREE

DEC. 17

WHAT: Hip Hop Ugly Sweater Christmas Party

WHERE: Twist Cupcakery, 25 S. Saint Clair St., Dayton

WHEN: 4-8 p.m.

ABOUT: Free food and games will be happening while a DJ spins some of your favorite hip hop jams from back in the day. This event is for adults only. No doubt you'll hear the song below.
