This ‘Tales from the Hood’ comedian is coming to Dayton this week

An actor and comedian known roles in the cult classic “Tales from the Hood” and “Strictly Business” is heading to town.

Joe Torry is set to perform at The Arena, 4515 Salem Ave., as part of an 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. show on Thursday, Dec. 7.

Leah McBride, Big Boo Man and Lovestreet are also set to perform in the show hosted by WROU 92.1 radio personality Faith Daniels and Shaun Ross, who has appeared on WE tv's "Growing Up Hip Hop: Atlanta."

“Tales from the Hood” is a 1995 horror film directed by

Rusty Cundieff

and executive produced by

Spike Lee.

Torry plays Stack, one of three drug dealers who visit a funeral home in South Central Los Angeles.

Tickets for "Holiday Laughter and Soul" are $40 and are available at 14 Karat Gold, 4180 W. Hillcrest Ave., Dayton and The Arena.

A St. Louis native, Torry  has appeared on “ER,” “NYPD Blue,” “Girlfriends,” “NCIS,” “The Conan O'Brien Show,” “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” and “Def Comedy Jam.”
