1) DPO

Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra will be exploring classic material from the Great American Songbook and spooky music during two very different concerts this weekend at the Schuster Center, Second and Main streets, Dayton. Vocalist Steve Lippia joins the DPO for Sinatra and Friends at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 28 and 29. “Mack the Knife,” “That’s Life” and “Send in the Clowns” are among the featured songs.

For its annual PhilharMonster Halloween concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, the DPO will perform selections such as “Funeral March of a Marionette” by Charles Gounod, Ray Parker Jr.’s “Ghostbusters” and the world premiere of “And Then They Just Disappear Into the Night” by Michael Schelle.

2) HAUNTFEST ON FIFTH

There are plenty of opportunities this time of year to dress up for Halloween parties and events. However, for many Daytonians the season isn't complete without attending Hauntfest on Fifth. East Fifth Street in the Oregon District will once again be blocked off between Patterson Boulevard and Wayne Avenue for the city's annual Halloween celebration from 7 p.m. to 1 am. Saturday, Oct. 29. Hauntfest 2016 features live music, a costume contest and other attractions. More than $1,500 in cash prizes will be awarded during the 10 p.m. costume contest. 3) HAIL MARY

For his irreverent stage comedy "Hail Mary!" playwright Tom Dudzick's explores the increasingly complex life of Mary, a plucky young teacher at Saint Aloysius Catholic Elementary School. The Human Race Theatre Company's presentation opens at Loft Theatre, 126 N. Main St., Dayton, on Thursday, Nov. 3. "Hail Mary!," directed by Margarett Perry, is presented through November 20. 4) MR. GNOME

Cleveland rockers Mr. Gnome are spending much of October on the road, touring as far west as San Francisco and Los Angeles. In addition to dates in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and Missouri, the rocking duo from Cleveland is also slotting in shows at some of its favorite regional clubs. In addition to performing in Columbus and Lexington, Mr. Gnome is returning to Blind Bob's, 430 E. Fifth St., Dayton, at 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28. 5) TALIJA

Since it started in Belgrade in 1998, Talija has taken its traditional dance and music programs to Taiwan, Peru, Mexico, China, Canada, the United States and other disparate locations. The 25-member Serbian folk dance troupe last performed in the Dayton area in 2014. 6) FLAPPER BALL

A Prohibition-era speakeasy and a buffet dinner are just some of the period-appropriate attractions during The Sultans of Swing Flapper Ball. Wright State University CELIA presents this 1920s-themed night of music, dancing and literary readings at Memorial Hall, 125 E. First St., Dayton, from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29. 7) MUTTS GONE NUTS

Scott and Joan Houghton were street performers for more than 20 years before changing their creative focus a decade ago. Since then, the couple has gained an international presence by presenting Mutts Gone Nuts, a canine cabaret with high wire tricks, dancing, rope jumping and comedy. 8) R&B HALLOWEEN

9) FIDDLER ON THE ROOF

The Dayton Playhouse and the Miami Symphony have joined forces for a production of the beloved musical, "Fiddler on the Roof." The show, which premiered on Broadway in 1964, is presented at Dayton Masonic Center, 525 Riverview Ave., Dayton, Friday through Sunday, Oct. 28-30. 10) GUY TORRY

Guy Torry and his older brother, Joe, have each been doing stand-up comedy for more than two decades. Although they don't often work together, they are forever linked by their family ties.
