If any modern performer knows about exploiting the buzz, it’s actor-comedian Kevin Hart.

Just a few years ago, he came to town for weekend performances at the Funny Bone Comedy Club. Today, he’s one of the biggest comedians in the world.

For his current What Now? World Tour, Hart is headlining coliseums, theaters and other large venues, including a date at the Nutter Center in Fairborn on Sunday, Oct. 11.

“It’s a hunger to capitalize on the success I’m getting,” Hart said, explaining his relentless drive. “Things are going very well for me right now, and my name is definitely ringing bells, so I want to take advantage of it and put more work into it. I decided I was going to work harder, and that’s has been my focus."

Hart is a versatile comedian, filling his sets with topical jokes, tales of parenthood and self-deprecating humor. However, more than anything, the 36-year-old Philadelphia native is a compelling storyteller who laces his extended tales with smaller jokes that build up to the final, major punchline.

“You have to keep people’s attention during the story, and the only way to do that is to maintain a certain amount of humor in between your stories,” Hart said. “I try to make sure I have a certain amount of laughs coming every so often for each joke, because dead space is not good.”

What to expect?

“Come and be prepared to laugh and have a good time,” Hart said. “This is what I do for a living, and I love my job. I love the fact my fans are growing, so I’m excited. I can’t wait.”
