Wheat Penny to host fundraiser event for Sonoma fire victims

Wheat Penny restaurant will host a fundraiser Sunday, Nov. 19 to support families in need of help after the wildfires in Sonoma and Napa counties.

The event will be held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at the restaurant at 515 Wayne Ave. Tickets for the event are $30 per person, or $50 for a pair of tickets, and are available at all Dorothy Lane Market and Arrow Wine & Spirits stores and at Wheat Penny and its sister restaurant, Meadowlark.

The cost of the ticket includes food and wine samples. There will be tasting bar with appetizers, pizza, salads, vegetables, and desserts; a cash bar; silent auction; and door prizes donated by local restaurants and wine distributors, Wheat Penny owner Elizabeth Wiley said.

Wheat Penny is donating the food, labor and all but the cost of the cash bar, so that all of the proceeds will go to the beneficiaries, families in the wine industry that have been impacted by the recent wildfires in northern California, Wiley said.
