Yellow Springs Brewery to host special bottle release today

Yellow Springs Brewery is celebrating the release of its special bottling of Springer Golden Ale with Coffee starting at 3 p.m. today, Friday Jan. 13, in its taproom at 305 N. Walnut St. in Yellow Springs.

The new release represents a twist to one of the brewery’s signature beers. The “regular” Springer Golden Ale is made with Cascade hops cultivated in northwest Ohio, and the brewery describes it as “light-bodied and slightly floral with a clean, crisp taste.”

The new release contains “a touch” of coffee from local roaster Reza’s Roast in Fairborn, YSB co-founder Lisa Wolters said. The brewery collaborated with Audria Ali-Maki, owner of Reza’s Roast, who created a blend of roasted coffee for Springer Golden Ale.

YSB is bottling and distributing the Springer Golden Ale with Coffee in the Dayton and Columbus markets, starting next week, and will be hosting a limited release today of 100 bottles in the taproom. For a limited time today, customers also can purchase coffee beans from Reza’s Roast in the taproom.

Yellow Springs Brewery opened in April 2013. Last year, it added 1,600 square feet and new production equipment to its brewhouse and tasting room to help accommodate retail sales of canned beers. And this year, it purchased the former Village Lanes bowling alley at 1475 Xenia Ave. in Yellow Springs for use as a distribution center. YSB beers are now available in kegs and cans across the Miami Valley from Wapakoneta to northern Cincinnati, and in the Columbus area.
