Elvis Presley appeared in Dayton five times during his career.

None was more jumpsuit-ey or frenzied than his final appearance 40 years ago, on Oct. 26, 1976, at UD Arena.

Here are three things you missed but should know about The King's final Dayton show.

1. He stayed and traveled in style. Elvis flew into Dayton on a white Boeing 707 named "Lisa Marie." He stayed at the Stouffer's Dayton Plaza Hotel, now the Crowne Plaza. The freight elevator took him to the ninth floor, where a suite awaited. To ensure his security the entire floor was reserved for him.

2. People were fighting over his stuff. Both men and women rushed the stage when Elvis took off his first scarf and tossed it into the crowd. A pair of women sparred over "scarf number 34." After two minutes of tugging, the husband of one of the women took out his pocket knife and split it down the middle.

3. That came 20 years after he first played in Dayton. Elvis first performed here on May 27, 1956, at the University of Dayton Fieldhouse, just four months after he released Heartbreak Hotel, his first number one single.
