The catfe aims to open in spring 2017.
"We had looked at this location previously, but really wanted to explore our options in Dayton. Ultimately, when the building became available a second time, we knew it was a sign. We were meant to be in St. Anne's Hill", says Sabrina Cox, Cat Operations Officer for Gem City Catfé.
The hybrid coffee shop and feline adoption center will offer a full-service espresso bar serving unique coffee and tea beverages and pre-packaged snacks. There will be a separate cat lounge. The upstairs will provide space for community events and a rotating art gallery.
“The people of Dayton are incredibly supportive of growing their community and we are excited to become a part of that energy," said co-owner and Dayton transplant Karin Gudal-Johnson.

"We're passionate about Dayton and hope to become a community meeting spot while promoting animal welfare and adoptable cats," said Gudal-Johnson.
