Buckeye Road Trips launches Dayton wine tour

With a slogan of "It's Okay to Wine on Mondays," Buckeye Road Trips has announced it will expand beyond its Dayton-area brewery tours to include a "Monday Uncorked" wine-tasting tour, starting next Monday, May 1.

The tour will make stops at Deaf Monty's Wine and Coco's Bistro in Dayton, Buckeye Road Trips founder Tammy Zell said.

“During the three years that we have been taking guests on local brewpub tours, we often had people ask about adding winery tours,” Zell said. “We visited Old Mason, Vinoklet, and Brandeberry wineries and had good experience, and we will continue to add these tours to our calendar, especially with the nice weather coming and being able to sit outside.

“As a way of getting people to go downtown who may not have been there in a while or who go to Dragons games then head back to the suburbs, I came up with ‘Monday Uncorked,’” Zell said. “To make the tours accessible to people from all around Dayton, we will offer a different pickup location each week.”

The tour’s 12-passenger bus will depart its pickup spot at 6 p.m. on Mondays to make its two stops. The price of the tour will be $65 per person.

“Each stop will include four tastings along with specially chosen appetizers to compliment the wine,” Zell said. “The wines are chosen in advance so our guests are completely taken care of. They will be treated to the tastings and appetizers as well as information about the different wines, and they also can ask questions.”

A schedule for the new wine tour and for four brewery tours is available at www.buckeyeroadtrips.com.

“The greatest thing that we offer on our tours is giving people time to sit back, relax and have fun without having to think about it,” Zell said. “We call them adult field trips for that reason.”
