Graeter’s Ice Cream, brewery to release Black Raspberry Chocolate Stout

Cincinnati-based Graeter's Ice Cream has joined with Covington, Ky.-based Braxton Brewing Co. to produce a beer from the ice cream company's signature flavor — and Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip Milk Stout will soon be coming to the Dayton area and several other markets.

The collaboration is a first for both the ice cream company and the brewery, Braxton Brewing spokesman Jonathan Gandolf said in a news release on the brewery's web site. Graeter's also operates three ice cream shops in the Dayton area, in Beavercreek, Oakwood and Centerville.

Braxton Brewing will host a Can Release and Tapping Party on Feb. 3, and the beer is scheduled to start arriving in participating Kroger stores and at other independent retailers in the Dayton, Cincinnati, Lexington and Louisville areas three days later, on Feb. 6.

Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip is one of Graeter’s oldest traditional flavors. The brewery used Graeter’s black raspberry puree in its milk stout, which its release described as “a dark brew with notes of roasted barley and a creamy texture.”

Jake Rouse, Braxton Brewing’s co-founder and CEO said in the release, “We hope this is the first of many collaborations between the Braxton and Graeter’s Family and can’t wait for consumers to get their hands on this beer.”
