Local distillery shut down for 3 months says it will reopen

A Dayton-area distillery that closed its tasting room in late November is now planning to reopen, perhaps as early as July.

S&G Artisan Distillery at 305 N. Walnut St. in Yellow Springs closed on Nov. 30 to deal with personal issues, Kerry Scheuner, who owns S&G Artisan Distillery with her husband Hajo Scheuner, told this news outlet in a phone interview. But plans call for reopening this summer.

“July is our goal,” Scheuner said.

The decision to reopen was made in part because of customer response, the distillery’s co-owner said.

“We had our best sales year last year, so we had many requests to come back,” Scheuner said. “We are planning a grand reopening.”

When it does reopen, S&G Distillery will have a full lineup of its products. It offers nine spirits by the bottle, and intends to release two new products, a Blackberry Liqueur and a Raspberry Liqueur, Scheuner said.
