Local restaurant scores shout-out from top national food magazine

A local restaurant with locations in Miamisburg and Xenia is praised as a "Hometown Hero" in the current print edition of Taste of Home magazine, the nation's highest-circulation food magazine.

"This pay-what-you-can restaurant is fueled by the community it feeds and grateful volunteers," Taste of Home magazine said about One Bistro, which founder and chef Robert Adamson launched in Miamisburg in 2012, adding a second location in Xenia in 2016.

About two-thirds of One Bistro’s customers pay for their meals, and the rest either volunteer at the restaurant, or their meals are subsidized by other diners.

Debra Lindholm, manager of the One Bistro’s Miamisburg restaurant, said she and other One Bistro supporters believe the magazine’s recognition “will help get the word out” about the restaurants’ mission.

“As a non-profit, we won’t have a marketing budget,” Lindholm said. “So this is a real big blessing for us.”

With a circulation of more than 2.5 million, Taste of Home has more readers than Bon Appetit and Food & Wine magazines combined, according to Chicago-based media research company Cision.
