2016 Women to Watch List includes two Dayton.com partners

We weren't surprised at all to see some very familiar names on this list.

The Better Business Bureau's Women in Business Networking (WIBN) today released its annual list of the Top 25 Women to Watch honorees, and among the list of extremly influential and industrial women were Nancy Wilson, Breakfast Club host for our country music radio partner K99.1FM, and Dayton.com Music Insider/Venus Child Productions founder Libby Ballengee.

We are pleased to reveal the WiBN 2016 Top 25 Women to Watch honorees. Join us this year as we get to know these amazing women. #WiBN

In addition to being a hilarious and thoughtful show host every morning with her cohort Frye Guy, Wilson does an amazing amount of community work as part of K99, from the annual Radiothon Drive, to putting together incredible shows like December's Little Big Town "mega-concert" at Wright State University's Nutter Center for charity.

And if you're in any way affiliated with the Dayton music scene, you know Ballengee is one of the top movers and shakers around, constantly promoting upcoming local shows on her Dayton.com Music Insider blog and as a co-writer for the monthly Guided By Noises column, highlighting tracks from local musicians. A host on the Gem City Podcast, she also recently started her own promotion company, Venus Child Productions, enabling her to be even more supportive of the scene than she was before, if that were even possible.

"What a true honor! This group of women spend countless hours working to make Dayton a better place to live and play. It's wonderful to be recognized in this way, " Ballengee said.

According to the Better Business Bureau's website, since 2009 the WIBN 25 Women to Watch awards have recognized women in the Miami Valley who are:

  • exceptional in their roles and respected in their fields
  • who are causing more than just a ripple in the public arena and in their communities
  • and who "light a spark" or make an impression of some sort.

Other honorees include Montgomery County Commissioners Debbie Lieberman and Judy Dodge, Dayton Children's Hospital's Stefanie Nemitz, Mary Kathryn Burnside of Clash Dayton, and more. Congratulations to all of the 2016 honorees!
