Dayton newspaper publisher stepping down for nonprofit job in Columbus

A well-known Dayton newspaper publisher is stepping down to work for a nonprofit in Columbus.

Carol Clark, the Dayton Business Journal's president and publisher since March of 2011, is leaving Dayton to work for Equitas Health, the Dayton-based organization formerly known as AIDS Resource Center Ohio, a letter from Equitas President Bill Hardy says.

Clark plans to launch "Prizm," a new statewide print and online LGBTQ publication focusing on current events, health, arts and culture, fashion, politics, news, travel and entertainment and resources.

Her team will include Mike MoffoBob Vitale and Staley Munroe, former staffers of the now-defunct Outlook Ohio Magazine, the letter says.

In Dayton, Clark was active in a long list of organizations that include Downtown Rotary, Downtown Dayton Partnership, Big Brothers Big Sisters and the NCAA First Four Operating Committee.

"This was a very hard decision for me as I have really enjoyed my time at the Dayton Business Journal. I will miss the great people who have helped me build the organization over the past decade, and our devoted readers, news sources, and advertisers, but I'm excited about the next step in my career and being closer to my family," Clark told the DBJ in an online article.

She joined the newspaper in 2008 as its advertising director, according to her Linkedin page.

The Ohio State University graduate has had a long career in newspaper advertising, holding prior positions at The Virginian-Pilot, The Columbus Dispatch, as well as newspapers in the Mansfield area and suburban Columbus.
