Kettering sports bar has new owners

The Wright Wing Kettering sports bar at 3808 Wilmington Pike has been purchased, although the new owners — who already own a second Kettering pub — say they are planning no immediate changes.

GEL Investments — a holding company that owns Dog’s Breath Tavern at 1912 E. Whipp Road near the Oak Creek Plaza — purchased Wright Wing Kettering from Kevin Terrell, who will continue to own and operate the original Wright Wing at 1864 Colonel Glenn Highway in Fairborn, Gary Leasure, co-founder of GEL Investments, told this news outlet today.

Leasure said the Kettering bar will retain its name and will not close during the transition. The bar will reopen for lunch and will serve dinner daily, he said.

Leasure and his cousin, Steve Leasure, are partners in the venture. Gary Leasure said he was encouraged by the success of Dog’s Breath Tavern, which GEL Investments purchased in August 2014, “and this was a good opportunity to expand our business,” he said.

Both business partners live in Kettering, “so we have a vested interest in seeing small businesses grow in this area,” Leasure said.

Plans call for an increased focus on craft beers, particularly locally produced beers, and on maintaining the menu. “We know that our pizza and wings are why a lot of people come in,” Leasure said.

“Kevin did a great job starting the business,” he said. “We will build on that success.

Wright Wing Kettering opened in summer 2015. The space previously housed several other sports bars, including the Sports Deck, Monkeez Sports Bar and the Buckin’ Donkey.
