Local radio station flips to all-Christmas music — in September

Yes, it’s still September, and the spirit of Halloween is in the air. But ON the air — that’s a different matter.

Dayton-based internet Radio station LITE 105 WLQT-DB flipped its light-rock format to Christmas music yesterday, on Wednesday, Sept. 28 — but not without a few squawks of protest from listeners.

“We know it may be early, but with all of the stores putting Christmas items out, and things going rough in our country, we figured that we would flip,” Lite 105 owner and program director Michael Foland said in a release. “We’ve also had a lot of listener votes to make the flip.”

One listener, however, expressed his thoughts about the switch to Christmas music on the station's Facebook page:

“Um, NO! NO NO NO! I’m just now getting used to Soft Rock!!!!” He urged the station to wait until November to switch to Christmas music, and closed with, “URGH!”

But other listeners praised the move and said they enjoyed listening to the Christmas music.

What do you think? Pushing the season too much, or just right?
