Wayne National Forest visitors can now purchase digital passes

The U.S. Forest Service (USFS) and digital government services provider NIC Inc. are offering a new paper-free, smartphone-enabled method for visitors to pay recreation fees at Wayne National Forest through an online service called “YourPassNow.”

Wayne National Forest trails opened April 15, and trail uses other than hiking require a permit. This year, visitors will have the option of purchasing and presenting permits digitally through YourPassNow.

YourPassNow simplifies the process of paying for permits by allowing visitors the opportunity to purchase them online with no additional fees. Visitors can present their permit immediately, store it on their mobile device for later or print it.

“The ‘YourPassNow’ online permit system is a great way for visitors to purchase their trail permit from the convenience of their home or smart phone,” said Wayne National Forest Supervisor Anthony Scardina.

“It is available anytime and provides an additional purchase option for those who do not wish to wait for our office or participating store vendors to open.”
