The tavern — known for its brisket, barbecue and saloon-themed decor — was located at 209 Byers Road in a shopping plaza.
“I don’t have to worry about employees not showing up and customers being affected,” Williams said. “It’s just a set of aggravations that I wouldn’t have had if I had been able to be there. I’m trying to get rid of aggravation in my life at this point, not hang onto it.”

He said the restaurant had about 15 employees, who were mostly full-time workers. Now that it’s officially closed, they took the leftover products to a local food bank, he said.
Williams announced the closure through a post on social media: “With much sadness, I closed the Dark Horse Tavern today. I will miss the good times and the memories,” he wrote.
The property is listed at $1.3 million online. Williams said he’s already had two or three inquires about buying the business.
