Weekend River Ride to feature new Great Miami canoe, kayak livery

A preview of a canoe and kayak livery set to open next month on the Great Miami River will be part of free cycling event Saturday.

Adventures on the Great Miami will hold a demo day at its new West Carrollton site as part of the River Ride starting in Miamisburg.

The Miami County outfit recently signed a three-year lease with the city of West Carrollton to operate a livery at 5641 Marina Drive. The site will be the midway point of the round-trip bicycle ride, which starts at 8:30 a.m. in Miamisburg’s Riverfront Park.

The livery, set to open June 1, will make canoes and kayaks available from 9 a.m. to noon, according to the city.

Pre-registration for the River Ride is available at www.DriveLessLiveMore.org. However, on-site registration is available on the day of the event at Riverfront Park, 3 N. Miami Ave.

Children, age 12 and under, must be accompanied by an adult.
