New ‘Merit Grill’ restaurant to open March 1 on Wilmington Pike

The Kettering Grill & Cafe at 3800 Wilmington Pike closed last night, Sunday Feb. 19, but a restaurant called the Merit Grill is poised to take its place on March 1.

Oscar Gibran, Merit Grill’s general manager, told this news outlet that the new restaurant will continue to serve breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week as the Kettering Grill did.

There will be some changes to the menu: The Merit Grill will have a new chef, and the menu will focus on dishes made from scratch and offered at an affordable price, Gibran said.

The menu will have a Latin influence but will include dishes from around the world, including Italy, Mexico and Asia, Gibran said. The menu also will add two or three steak dishes, and a daily special will be offered as well, he said.

Plans call for expanding the restaurant’s wine and beer selections and for renovating the bar area during the nine-day hiatus, the restaurant’s general manager said.
