A ribbon-cutting and open house is scheduled for today at The HighLand Stag, which is poised to open to the public at 75 N. Main St. in downtown Springboro.

The Springboro Chamber of Commerce announced on its Facebook page the ribbon-cutting will be held at 3 p.m. today, May 5 with Springboro Mayor John Agenbroad, followed by an open house until 4 p.m., and invited chamber members to attend.

A spokesman for the restaurant said plans call for a grand opening a week from today, on May 12. The restaurant-pub was open for a couple of invitation-only events earlier this week.

The space previously held SG@75 Gastropub, formerly called the Soooo Good Bar & Grill. That pub closed in September 2016 after a three-and-a-half-year run.

The new restaurant and bar will offer traditional Celtic fare with a contemporary, but authentic, flair, Brent Moore of Moore & Associates, who is serving as consultant and spokesman for the new pub, said in February.

The Highland Stag will seat approximately 95 inside and about 40 more on a patio, and when fully up and running, will serve lunch and dinner Tuesday through Sunday, Moore has said.

The menu will include items such as rack of lamb, shepherd’s pie, and braised short ribs, the restaurant said in a February release. It will offer a wide range of traditional Celtic draft beverages, along with craft beers from local breweries, a robust wine list, and a deep selection of Scotch and Irish whiskeys. Plans call for hosting special events such as Scotch and Whiskey dinners, tap takeovers and wine events.
