#TBT: See Dayton's inventions in downtown art

It's easy sometime to get bogged down in the economic stagnation that Dayton has seen (like many cities across the country) in recent years. Let's not forget that the Gem City has long been known for its plethora of patents, numbering in the thousands. It's hard to dispute that Daytonians seem predisposed to inventions and improvements upon older inventions.

RiverScape Metropark and downtown Dayton celebrate several of these inventions with modern sculptures, some of which you may have walked by or sat on without even realizing they were works of art -- it's easy to overlook a design when you see it literally every day. But we think, and bet you'll agree, that life would be much less convenient without these inventions, and for that, we thank our fellow Daytonians of ages past for pushing their curiosity and intellect to phenomenal levels.
