In response to an email inquiry, Hixon-Hadfield responded, “We sold to a company that is going to reopen it.” She did not respond to follow-up questions.
On the restaurant’s Facebook page, Hixon-Hadfield said the business — which leases the space — was sold “to a group that owns and operated several other local restaurants. They are planning to re-open soon!”
Hixon-Hadfield also said her own illness was a driving factor behind the decision to sell the business. She told customers on the restaurant’s public Facebook page that she has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
The restaurant “was my dream five years ago,” Hixon-Hadfield wrote. ” … Between my family (and) other concession and catering business, I do not have the time or energy to dedicate to the restaurant anymore. … This has been a very personal and emotional struggle. I am not a franchisee or a restaurateur… I live in Springboro and I want this place to be a success and have a positive impact on the community.”
Hixon-Hadfield had posted a notice on its Facebook page in August that is was for sale.
“Have you ever dreamed of owning your own restaurant? Well, now is your chance. … We lease the space and have completely remodeled the interior. Huge kitchen ready for catering, and a liquor license.”
