The famous baby, premature hippo is not ready to make her public debut, but visitors will be able to see plenty of swoon-worthy baby animals including tiger cubs, painted dog pups, a takin, a red panda, two giraffe babies and more at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden during the 32nd annual Zoo Babies.

Throughout May, six-foot-tall stork signs will mark the spots where babies can be found at the Zoo.

"Baby animals are great ambassadors for their species," said Thane Maynard, Cincinnati Zoo Executive Director. "When people get face to face with our Malayan tiger cubs and look into those big blue eyes, they are inspired to care about these amazing cats and their wild counterparts. With fewer than 500 of these tigers left in the world, the survival of this species depends on people caring enough to protect them."

The three tiger cubs, Chira, Izzy and Batari, can be seen in the Night Hunters building this month and will move to their outdoor habitat sometime this summer.

African painted dog pups Nacho, Muenster, Bleu, Brie, Gouda, Queso, Colby, Swiss, Cotija, Mozzarella and Feta will be out in Painted Dog Valley, usually running around the yard, swimming or sleeping in a big pile.

Bird fans can look forward to seeing flamingo and little penguin chicks and colorful red and yellow barbet.

Zoo Babies runs throughout May. The event is FREE with regular Zoo admission. Moms get free admission on Sunday, May 14.

The Zoo opens daily at 10 a.m. and closes at 5 p.m. Cincinnati Zoo members enjoy early entry at 9 a.m. For more information visit www.cincinnatizoo.org.
