The burger you’ll want to finish, but shouldn’t

There are lots of restaurants with their own signature burgers in the Dayton area. Of course, taste is first and foremost, but what about the name? It’s got to have a name that grabs your attention, like the Big Nick in Xenia.

Gameday Grille and Patio in Waynesville, owned and operated by Ohio State University graduates, offers up their tribute to the school’s superstar football coach with the Urban Meyer Burger.

It’s a fresh half-pound Angus patty topped with a butterflied quarter-pound Angus beef hot dog, with a sweet and tangy wing sauce while pepper jack cheese tried to hold it all together. According to head chef Craig Coombe, it was patterned after Meyer’s persona as being a bit of a hot dog himself.

The Urban Meyer is one of two sports-themed burgers meant for those with a hearty appetite.

Gameday Grille and Patio also offers the Who Dey Burger, which features caramelized barbecue sauce, sauteed mushrooms, onion rings, jalapeno peppers, chili, bacon, with Swiss and American cheese in celebration of -- or commiseration for -- the Cincinnati Bengals.
