Congratulations to John Legend and Chrissy Teigen on the baby announcement!
John and I are so happy to announce that we are pregnant :) As many of you know, we've been trying to have a baby for a while now. It hasn't been easy, but we kept trying because we can't wait to bring our first child into the world and grow our family. We're so excited that it's finally happening. Thank you for all your love and well wishes. I look forward to all the belly touching! Xx
Now that we know a celebrity baby with local ties is on the way, the staff here at Dayton.com wanted to offer this celebrity supercouple some assistance. After all, when it comes to pregnancy and life with baby, who doesn't need a little help?
First of all, the name.
We all know John Legend has some serious pride for his hometown of Springfield and the whole Dayton region and Buckeye State.
So why not choose a name inspired by his hometown? Here are some suggestions for the ultimate name for Baby Legend from our locally inspired ideas, plus a few other random ones we tossed in there just for fun.
- "Westcott" Legend
After the famous Wescott House in Springfield
- "Navistar" Legend
A shoutout to Springfield's biggest employer
- "George Rogers" Legend
For the amazing park in Springfield
- "Witt" Legend
For Wittenberg University in Springfield, of course
- "North High" Legend
If Kanye and Kim can get away with "North West," we think John and Chrissy can get away with North High, Legend's school.
- "Clark" Legend
If they want to go the traditional route, why not at least give props to Springfield's Clark State?
- "Legendarius" Legend
Legend+Darius. Sure, it's random. But we thought it was cute and catchy.
- "Homer" Legend
Homer Simpson is from Springfield, too. This is an obvious choice.
- "Jorissy" Legend
John + Chrissy = Jorissy
- "John.i.am" Legend
Inspired by John's close friend Will.i.am
- "Glory" Legend
For his hit song in the movie "Selma"
- "Selma" Legend
Same reason as No. 11
- "Hartman Rock" Legend
For Springfield's famous Hartman Rock Garden. This kid could be a pro wrestler or famous athlete with that name.
- Mike Legend
Why not throw in something completely unexpected and really just an average everyday name?
- "Spring" Legend
It's short for Springfield. "Summer" and "Autumn" are already popular names. "Spring" is logical.
- "Orville Wilbur" Legend
Yes, we know he's from Springfield, but why not take this opportunity to pay homage to Dayton's most famous brothers?
- "Urban" Legend
Anyone who follows John Legend on social media knows he is a huge Buckeyes fan. Why not name the baby after Ohio State Coach Urban Meyer. Get it, Urban Legend?

Naturally, we’re also very curious about what the baby is going to look like because let’s face it, when any good-looking power couple such as Chrissy and John get together, it’s only natural to assume that their child will look just as good — if not better!
Boy were we right!
