Your best bet for Blues this weekend is the Dayton Blues Showcase at Oddbody's Music Room this evening. The lineup is chock full of Blues guitar virtuosos, including Ira Stanley & Blues Power , Doug Hart, Noah Wotherspoon and Scotty Bratcher . Those are some heavy hitters. All on one stage? Too cool. 7 p.m. doors, 8 p.m. show. Ages 18+; cost is $15 DoS.
If you are up for a bit of an adventure, I'd really recommend you travel out to Eaton this evening. Taffy's (aka The Music Mecca of the Universe) has two outstanding guitarists performing: Michael Kelsey and Edgar Cruz . Michael was a finalist in Guitar Player Magazine's national competition. His style is a unique blend of influences, and quite beautiful. Edgar's Spanish style is hypnotic. This will be a gorgeous evening of guitar playing. Don't miss it!
Closer to downtown Dayton, but still in the mood for the Blues? Check out Miss Lissa & Co with very special guest Bob Dellaposta at Jimmie's Ladder 11.
In the Oregon District, jam band enthusiasts will be partying at Oregon Express with Arrows of Neon , a Grateful Dead tribute band. Rock fans will be at Blind Bob's for the MAMA , The Mound Builders and Frontier show. More of a bluegrass, acoustic fan? Sawgrass at Trolley Stop is your ideal spot.
On the outer edges of town, check out one of my personal faves, Subterranean at Peach's in Yellow Springs for a free show starting at 10 p.m. In Middletown, Appalachian jam band Fletcher's Grove and progressive funk rock band Yosemight will share the stage at the Old Crow Bar . Both shows are jammy yet fun for a diverse audience. Give it a shot! I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

. (Ah! Revolver was one of my first and favorite albums I ever purchased!) Performance starts at 8 p.m. at the Schuster Center. If you have not been to one of the DPO’s Rockin’ Orchestra shows, you are missing out. It’s great fun! For young professionals,
has heavily discounted tickets and a pre-party, with complimentary appetizers and WTUE broadcasting live at Uno’s Pizza from 5-7 p.m. Super cool! And it all wraps up in time for you to head to some more shows!
Lots of options for live music late this evening! First on my list is the Miami Valley Music Fest Promo Show , featuring Lost on Iddings, Scott Lee & The Whiskey River Boys and Hazy and the Hammertones at Jimmie's Ladder 11. All of these bands are talented and enjoyable! Starts at 10 p.m. with $5 cover.
Rock fans will have a hard time choosing between some interesting shows downtown this evening: Dayton favorites The Motel Beds and The New Old Fashioned , with Dan Tedesco from Nashville, are playing at Canal Public House at 9 p.m. They are going to be busting out some new tunes, which along with the intimate setting will make for a don't-miss show! Life in the Circus returns from the 90s with a reunion show at Blind Bob's with local supporting acts The Cricketbows , Dirty/Clean (from England) and The Saturday Giant. Down the street at Oregon Express, you will find Able Danger , Killed by Art and Chakras performing at 10 p.m.
Looking for something a little different? Jazz fans, check out Jazz Arts Studio featuring Andy Rush at Gilly's . Funk fans, head over to Brixx Ice Co for Mainline Funk . Hard rock fans will have fun at Paradise Key Cafe at the Shotgun Surprise show. Acoustic lovers, check out Flying Blind's Adam Brooks Dudding (acoustic guitar, vocals) and Gulliver's Traveling Medicine Show's Brian Spirk (mandolin, fiddle, vocals) for a cozy evening at Fifth Street Brew Pub, starting at 7 p.m.

at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds. Music starts at noon and goes till 8 p.m., and includes lots of great bands for the country enthusiasts in the area. $5 tickets in advance, $10 at the door. Can’t go wrong with BBQ, beer and bands! Enjoy!
