This weekend has been highly anticipated for many local music fans: a beloved music venue is coming back to life, and we could not be more excited!

When J-Alan's closed a couple years back, it was a sad time for many musicians, and fans such as myself. We so enjoyed the lively nights in this cozy downtown club, located at 121 N Ludlow St, near the Schuster Center.

The awesome news is that the space is opening once again, as Hannah's, and they are celebrating in fine style this weekend! The 2-night extravaganza includes some of the best live music in the city, and from out of town too! Keep reading to find all about it!

I love the mashups, when arts organizations work together to come up with something entirely fresh and modern. This Saturday we are getting just that with Modern Dance Modern Funk, a collaboration between the Dayton Gay Men's Chorus and the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company at the Victoria Theatre. Wow! Country fans, get down to

, with opening acts Jameson Rodgers and Shane Smith. They are hugely popular, with three No. 1 hits under their belt as well as a Grammy nomination! These relative newcomers to the music scene are sure making waves! Check them out!

$25. 5:30-11:30pm.

Jazz fans – don't forget about the live jazz every single night of the week at Blue Note Bistro & Lounge in Miamisburg. It's a lush setting, with swanky live music. A great place for dates, or meeting up with friends!

Lastly, I'd like to take a moment to pay tribute to the legendary Gregg Allman who passed this week. Hearing "Whipping Post" for the first time was one of those early moments I when I first truly fell in love with rock'n'roll. I fondly remember seeing them several times on one of their infamous NYC Beacon Theatre runs. There was nothing like it! The Allman Brothers were hugely influential, and there sure do leave a big a hole in the music scene, and our hearts. RIP Gregg.

As always, thank you for supporting live music!
