Friday January 13th

I love the "original" part of the Dayton music scene, and nothing signifies that more than when one of our own releases new music. On Friday night, celebrate with Abertooth Lincoln as they release their new EP "Selling the Urban Ideal." Dayton alternative faves My Latex Brain and Grand Mammoth are kicking off the night. Very rock'n'roll! 9pm. $5 cover. 21+

Nashville's Erica Blinn and the Handsome Machine come back to the Trolley Stop on Friday evening. Her country-rock has been highly praised. Check out what the hype is all about! 9:30pm. $5 cover. 21+

Celebrate Elvis's birthday with a special show at Gilly's Jazz featuring award winning tribute artist Ryan Roth and the Comeback Special Band. They are paying homage to the famous Aloha and Madison Square Gardens shows. That's right! Both shows all in one night! Performances are at 7pm and 9pm. Tickets are $15 each, or $25 for both shows. Call 937-266-2842 for ticket information.

Out in Yellow Springs, there is a great night of music in store, including Rachel Litteral & the Abstracts from 7-10pm at Emporium Wine & Underdog Cafe. Enjoy wine tasting, live music and dancing, and no cover charge. Then wheel over to see Kyleen Downes at Peach's. Music starts at 10pm with Topher James, followed by Kyleen at 11pm. No cover again! Nice reason to head out to the Springs!

Saturday January 14th

Saturday night is going to be a huge night for EDM fans in the area! DJ/producer Worthy is stopping through on his 23-date North American 'One on One' tour. He will be performing at Masque on Saturday night with special guest Stanton Warriors. G.U.A.B. Crew, Infected Angel and John Chapel are also on the bill, so get there early and plan to stay late! Show 9pm - 4am. General Admission $19. VIP options are sold out.
Worthy got in touch with me to share in his enthusiasm for this show: "I am super excited to bring the One-On-One tour to Dayton this weekend.  It will be my first time playing in Dayton and I have heard nothing but great things from other artists who have come through to play in the past. Judging from the reaction so far to this lineup, I'm convinced the night is going to get a little crazy! The Stanton Warriors are some of my favorite guys to play with and we have always created a bit of a frenzy on the dance floor. I love their unique sound and the way they hype the crowd, so I know this will be a memorable show and one of the stops on the tour I have been anticipating the most. Absolutely looking forward to crushing it!"

Metal fans will be out in full force for the Machinae Supremacy U.S. Tour at Rockstar Pro Arena. Joining them are URIZENDanimal Cannon Knight of the Round, and local bands Others by No One and Siegelord. Presales: $13. NO Free Re-Entry or Outside Food or Drinks.

In the Oregon District, there is a fantastic night of live music at Blind Bob's with Swimming With Sharks, NOVAGOLD, Move Home, and Hot Zombie. 9pm. $5 cover. 21+ Another great option is checking out Cincinnati's Matthew Wheatley at South Park Tavern. Both of these shows are really solid. Enjoy!

More of aclassical fan? The Springfield Symphony presents Masterworks II: Going for Baroque. Our ever popular Baroque bash promises to thrill with favorites from masters of that era. Kuss Auditorium. Tickets start at $25 for students, $30 for adults. 7:30-10:30pm.

Head up to the Eagles Campground in Troy for a special show to help the family of Philip Rindler with expenses. Last but not least, certainly worth the trip out to Yellow Springs to see McGuff and the Dumpster Fires with special guests Ghost Town Silence and Kevin Milner at Peach's. 9pm. 21+. No cover.

As always, thank you for supporting live music!
