Friday September 8th

One evening a couple years back, I randomly wandered in to Blind Bob's to find the most fantastic music playing. Unfortunately I only caught the last couple songs, but I was thrilled to see  The Woggles are back at Bob's Friday night! This Beatles-esque band is performing with local acts  Manray and The Zygotesalong with special guests  Fantastic Plastics , from NYC. Super fun! Do not miss! $7 cover. 9pm. 21+

One of my all-time fave local acts, Subterranean, is back at their old stomping grounds:  Oregon Express.  It's a full night of music from one of Dayton's truly original groups! $5 cover. 10pm. 21+

Over at Trolley Stop, check out  The Pullouts, a piano rock group influenced by Jackson Browne, Elton John, Steely Dan, The Eagles, Billy Joel, Little Feat, Linda Rondstadt, Ben Folds Five, Ryan Adams. That gives ya an idea of what their music is about! Music starts at 9:30pm with a $5 admission. 21+

There's a big show happening at Oddbody's Music Room  with DevilDriver, 36 Crazyfists, and Cane Hill. These metalcore acts have been around for a long time, and they are ready to slay! $35 day of show. Doors 5pm. Show 5:30pm. 18+

The punk rock legends from West Hollywood, Green Jelly , are yes, in the area! Rock on! They're performing at Oscar's Bar  in Vandalia, along with Forces of Nature, Half Lit, Slaves's Among Death, Hellraiser, and Thermostat. $15 admission. 7pm.

Saturday September 9th

Blues titans  Taj Mahal  and  Keb' Mo' share the stage at Fraze Pavilion,  along with an all-star band for an exciting night of music, performing songs from their long-anticipated collaborative TajMo'. This is truly going to be an awesome show! Tickets are $35 for Side Orchestra. $25 - Lawn & Terrace. All ticket prices increase $5 day of show. 7:30pm.

An exciting new group on my radar is Dayton Funk Forever, a 7 piece band paying tribute to Funk music, especially Dayton's legendary funk history. I love this! Catch them 9:30pm-12:30am at Jimmie's Ladder 11.

The Draft has a special lineup including frontman Tim Anderl and guitarist Justin Roseberry of Bribing Senators. Along with Novagold - it's gonna be a rockin' night! $5 cover. 9pm. 21+

One of Dayton's favorites, Puzzle of Light, is back at Trolley Stop this Saturday. Puzzle of Light is a quintet of musicians who play American Creative Music: Michael Bashaw on flutes, harmonica, vocals, and percussion; Sandy Bashaw on guitar and vocals; Dick Roll on bass; John Taylor on drums and Erich Reith on percussion.
