One of the holiday traditions I look forward to the most is the annual Such a Night: The Last Waltz Live. It's an extraordinary collaboration of nearly 30 musicians from the Dayton area who come together to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the original concert, which took place November 25, 1976.

This event is so popular, it's had to expand to two nights again this year. You can attend Wednesday, November 23 or  Friday, November 25 -- or both nights, for you superfans out there! Performances take place at the Dayton Art Institute's Renaissance Auditorium. Cash bar available. Proceeds from the performances benefit member-supported WYSO 91.3 and The Dayton Art Institute. Time: 8:30 p.m. (doors open at 7:00 p.m.).

Tickets for Such a Night: The Last Waltz Live are priced at $30 (premium seating in first 10 rows, limited availability each night) and $25. On Friday, November 25, a special 6 p.m. VIP reception is available for an additional $50. The VIP reception includes additional live music, heavy hors d’oeuvres, and one complimentary drink. All seats are reserved seating; additional processing & preservation fees apply.

This is such a wonderful way to ring in the holiday spirit and support two beloved institutions in our community. Kudos and thanks to the Jeff Opt, who organizes this every year, all the musicians, and everyone who makes this event possible. My heart simply soars every time I experience it!

One of the biggest shows of the evening is certainly the traditional homecoming show for national touring band The Werks. This annual show is affectionately referred to as Werksgiving, and this year features the up-and-coming local band Subterranean. Couldn't be more excited about seeing both of these amazing bands under one roof. One of the "don't miss" shows of the holiday weekend, for sure. $15 admission at Oddbody's Music Room. Doors 7 p.m. Show 8 p.m. Ages 18+.
