Feelin' the Love with Live Music

Who is feeling the love this weekend? If you are, there are many great shows to take your sweetie to this weekend! If you aren't, those same shows are bound to be great places to meet that special someone! Either way, you'll have lots of fun, and you'll be supporting original local music!

Friday February 10th

Speaking of feeling the love, one of the top shows this weekend is definitely the Love Alive and Ernie Johnson From Detroit concert at Jimmie's Ladder 11. These regional bands deliver high octane psychedelic funky rock'n'roll. If you are looking for a show to warm you up and get your bootie shakin' - this is it! 9pm - 2am. $5 cover at door. 21+

Another great show is happening on the other side of the neighborhood, over at South Park Tavern. Americana style singer/songwriter Cari Ray is in town, performing with Achilles Tenderloin. This is going to be a lovely evening of musical storytelling you won't want to miss! 10pm - 12am.

Down in the Oregon District, I recommend checking out Nasty Bingo, with very special guest Sharon Lane, at the Trolley Stop. Stylistically considered "folkadelic" - which is a fun way of saying a mix of styles really, that's sure to please a variety of audiences. This group is packed with some of Dayton's most talented musicians, and having Sharon with them is certainly the cherry on top of a delightful evening! 9:30pm - 1:30am $5 cover at door. 21+

More of an alternative / indie fan? Head over to Blind Bob's to hear

(Bloomington),

, and

. Really interesting, original rock! 9pm - 2am. $5 cover at door. 21+

Two new bands on my radar, Poundsalt  and Sybil's Children, are performing at Oregon Express. Sounds like a hard rock night of music to me, so if you're looking for a more agressive rock show, head over here! 9pm - 2am. $5 cover at door. 21+

Saturday February 11th

One of the weekend highlights for me is Subterranean's

at Jimmie's Ladder 11. This now annual show is also a fan appreciation show, so there is no cover! There will also be free food, a raffle full of prizes, and of course some well-polished SubT music! If you've never experienced the SubT sound, this is a great night to do so! One of the best original Dayton bands, imho. FREE admission. 10pm - 2am. 21+

Across town there's a Bloody Valentine Party at Therapy Cafe. Our Valentine's shows are definitely taking a violent turn tonight! ha! This show is for the metal, glam, punk fans out there, featuring Only Flesh (Pittsburg). They apparently put on one heck of a show, including  band members actually hanging from hooks, fire-breathers, grinders, live crucifixions, brandings, go-go dancers, and more. Wow! GeeGee's Punk Rock All Stars (members of The Jackalopes), Flesh Warfare (melodic thrash/death/black-metal from Dayton), Putrid Liquid (Dayton gore-grind), are also on the bill. 9pm $5 cover.

There are a few other rock shows are going down in the Oregon District, including Jasper the Colossal over at Oregon Express, wtih Dip Spit and Dick Titty Blood Punch. 10pm - 2am. Catch P the Emcee, Dev the Rev, Tway Indian, Deiverse Marley, 209 Sins, Off the Meat Rack at Blind Bob's. Or swing by for The Tigerlilies from Cincinnati at Trolley Stop. $5 cover at door. 21+

North of town, punk fans will be ragin' over at the Super Duper Punk-O-Rama at Oscar's Bar in Vandalia. They promise that Underpass Overtones (Cincinati), Dead Tüth, and Sam at Eleven are going to make you wanna smash things. Be safe, and bring ear plugs kids! 9pm. $5 cover.

Heading east of town there are several good shows happening. In Fairborn at One Eyed Jacks, check out Infinity Spree, The Willy Clark Band, and Tangled Branches. The line up mixes jam, rock and electronica, which is always fun! Free admission! 18+

In Yellow Springs there has a great night in store, starting with an early show at the Spirited Goat Coffee House. Juju Crow, Donnie Rose, Bob Delaposta, & Sharon Lane are performing from 7-10pm. This show dovetails nicely into the 10pm show at Peach's Grill with Gin-Soaked Angels and Zane & The Sway. BAM! Great night planned for ya in Yellow Springs!

As always, thank you for supporting live music!
