A handful of my absolute favorite local and regional bands are performing, including: The Almighty Get Down (yes, they are as sweet as the name implies), Treehouse, Elementary Livity Project, Kommunity Service (with members of the Werks and Boogie Matrix), the Andy Shaw Band, and many more! The doors open at noon Friday, and runs through Saturday night. $45 admission day of the show.

If you're staying close to town this holiday weekend, there is live music all over the Miami Valley area! Read on to map out your weekend!

Friday July 1st

Blind Bob's starts the evening early with a patio set from 6-8pm with Kelly Zullo, Paige Beller, and Achilles Tenderloin. The party moves inside at 9:30pm for Temper, Temper, Temperature (a tribute to At the Drive-in featuring members of Grenades!?, Swimming with Sharks, and The 1984 Draft) and Hell Yes, Goddammit (a tribute to Alkaline Trio featuring members of Abertooth Lincoln, Sidekick Complex, and Bribing Senators). The evening serves as a fundraiser for Ladyfest Dayton, so make sure to get out support this eclectic show! Just $5 at the door.

Another patio set is on the other end of downtown, at Brixx Ice House, over by the Dragon's stadium. Bask in the summer afterglow with the Todd the Fox Trio. There is no cover, and all ages on the patio, so no excuses! Music from 9pm - Midnight.

One of New York's staple bands, Nonstop to Cairo, is in town and performing at South Park Tavern tonight. Newday reports: "The Baldwin based Rock-Ska-Reggae collective should not be missed." Sounds super fun! Music usually gets going around 9:30pm.

Another super cool show is at Jimmie's Ladder 11 tonight, with Timbre, the Neo-classical/Chamber-Folk for pixies and the young of heart. They are coming all the way from Nashville, so let's show this unique band a warm welcome! Opening the night is Shoegazi, which features members of Old News from Dayton. 9pm 18+ $5 cover.

It wouldn't be a First Friday without 3DMentional at Therapy Cafe. They throw a slammin' EDM night, with DJs spinning till 3am! Tons of party for only $5. Gets going at 9pm. 18+

If you are south of town, I highly recommend the John Mullen set at Heather's Coffee and Cafe on Main St in Springboro. This mainstay in the Ohio rock scene will be playing from 7-11pm.

Peach's Grill hosts Michael Kelsey, a rhythmic, inspired guitarist and performance artist who blends many musical genres with fervor and grace. He supported national touring acts such as Blind Melon and Dishwalla. 10pm. Free show!

Note to readers: Daya at The Rose Center is SOLD OUT for this evening.

Saturday July 2nd

Rick Springfield, Night Ranger & The Romantics take the stage at the Fraze Pavillion this evening, in support of Springfield's newest and 18th album, Rocket Science. You'll of course know him best for the hit "Jesse's Girl." These 80's rockers are fun for nostalgia sake, especially on a beautiful summer night! $50 Orchestra. $40 Lawn. 7:30pm.

The cool kids will be over at Jimmie's Ladder 11 tonight for Grand Mammoth, Water Witches and Hooker. They play everything from classic metal, freak folk, to glam rock. Music gets going at 10pm for a $5 cover at the door.

South Park Tavern again hosts a fun show with Jill and Micah, who are having an early CD release show with Michael Tomlinson and Jetty Bones, rounding out the night. 8:30pm. All ages. Free show!

Partying in the Oregon District for Sunday Funday and fireworks? Get out early and swing by the back parking lot behind Ned Peppers and Hole in the Wall for the Big American Block Paw-ty! They are joining forces with SICSA and having an awesome Independence Day Bash! The Nightbeast, Tino, Violent Kind are all performing, along with live DJs, food, games, live art and a dunk tank! Who doesn't love a dunk tank? Party gets started at 1pm. Free! All ages, but only 21+ get to drink, obviously. Partial Proceeds will go to Sicsa Pet Adoption Center.

Richie Ramone - from The Ramones - is in town at Blind Bob's! The Ramones last played in Dayton in 1996, so this is a great chance to catch a legend. Duderus, Jasper the Colossal, Aurelius, White Outs, and The Raging Nathans will be rockin' out as well.

Love more of a Blues sound? Wander over to Tumbleweed Connection for The Doug Hart Band, who is also getting the District rocking too. Love that balcony!

As always, thank you for supporting live music!
