Sadly, this evening is the last Food Truck Rally at Yellow Cab for the season (back next spring!). The previously mentioned Motel Beds Mind Glitter Release Party starts at 9 p.m. at Blind Bob's. Brat Curse and Moira kick off the evening. This is one of the "don't miss" events of the night, for sure!

Another major event this evening is the Day Con 9 After Party at Vex featuring The Luxury Pushers. The night is filled with some fantastically unique entertainment, including a Cyper Punk Costume Competition, a Fire Performance, a Burlesque show, followed by music by Luxury Pushers, and a late night Dark Alternative dance set. Very cool! To learn more about the entire Day Con event, visit

I'm really excited for tonight's show at Jimmie's Ladder 11, featuring Columbus band Sassafraz with special guest TNT. This show is funky, danceable, and features highly skilled musicianship. Heaven for jam band fans out there. Even if you aren't a traditional "jam band" fan, check out this show. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised! Music starts at 10pm. $5 cover.

Any Juggalos out there? Head's up! Similiar style rappers, Twizid are in town, along with supporting acts: Blaze, Boondox, Prozak, Wolfpac, and Scum. This collective group of characters will be at Oddbody's Music Room. Doors 6 p.m. Tickets are $30 advance, $35 at the door. 16+

Indie fans, Canal Public House has a great line up for you: Human Cannonball with New Moons (Cincinnati), Me Time, and Brenda (Louisville). This will be the first time Brenda (the band) is performing in Dayton. Always nice to hear new bands! Tweet me and let me know how the show is! $5 cover.

Out of the Dayton area? There is a cool Halloween-themed event this weekend in Springfield, that's worth checking out, especially for old-school horror movie fans. The classic and creepy vampire movie Noseratu will be shown, with the original score performed live by Equinox. Friday and Saturday nights (16th & 17th) at the State Theatre in Springfield. $10 tickets. What a cool idea!!

Another out of town, Halloween-themed music event is happening in Tipp City! (Way to go on all the cool events lately, TC! Keep it up!) This weekend they are hosting a free show right in the heart of downtown, entitled Night of the Rocking Dead. Live music is by Jasper the Colossal and Bribing Senators, along with MC Dustbunny. There is a costume contest too, so get in the zombie spirit! Show starts at 6pm. Again, it's free!

One of the local jam band scene's perennial favorites, Ekoostik Hookah is back in town, with special guests KOA (Lexington) and Magic Jackson. I love to get down and boogie with these bands, and you will too! Where? Oddbody's. $10 pre-sale, $15 at the door. 18+

Jimmie's Ladder 11 is presenting another funky evening with The Vibe. Organizers promise this three-piece powerhouse "will melt your face with mind-blowing original and classic psychedelic, fusion jazz, and rock." Opening the night is the Kevin Dumont Experiment, which is comprised of pros from all over the state of Ohio. Doors 9 p.m. $3 cover.

Whose a White Stripes fan out there? Get over to South Park Tavern to check out Paleface. WS is the closest comparison I can come up with, but they definitely have their own lovable, quirky flair. This 2-piece from North Carolina has a lot of local love, and you'll see why! They start at 10 p.m., followed by new local band The Zygotes. Very nice! $6 cover.

A tribute band extravaganza can be found at Blind Bob's this evening, featuring: Songs for the Deaf (Queens of The Stoneage Tribute), Back Stabbath (Black Sabbath Tribute), Hell Yes Goddamnit (Alkaline Trio Tribute). I know there are some dudes out there absolutely loving this concept. Have fun and rock on! Music starts at 10 p.m.

Out in the Fairborn / Yellow Springs area there are a few shows to choose from!

  • Glostik Willy, a jam band with a heavier edge, are performing with The Bath Salt Zombies. The Zombies are coming all the way from central Florida! They have a really unique sound, so make sure you check them out at One Eyed Jacks.
  • Hard rock fans in the area, check out the debut performance of Dayton hard rock/alternative metal band,Left in the Dark (LITD), featuring music from their first full-length album, Shadowglass at WO Wrights. Far from Eden and Mayfly will also be performing. $7 DoS. 18+

If you're on the completely opposite end of town, out in Richmond, pop by the E Street Pub for hard rock bands Shotgun Surprise and Epistone. These guys know how to rock it out and are loved by the locals!

Late night at Blind Bob's there is a metal show, for all you true ragers! Zuel, Matter of Planets, Twany Indian & Scarecrow are on the bill! 9 p.m. 21 and over.

Last but certainly not least, we have a moral imperative to celebrate Back to the Future Day! The day Marty originally ascended to in the classic 80's movie. In honor of this day, you will find music, games, costume contest and more at Yellow Cab! Rockabilly favorites, Cherry Lee & The Hot Rod Hounds will be performing.
