If you build it, they will ROCK it!

Between a Skate Punk Invasion, an Almighty Get Down, GemFest, and If You Build It, They Will Rock It events, it's a fantastic weekend to get out and support live music. Read on to get all the details!

GemFest, a benefit to supportGLSEN Greater Dayton and Big Brothers Big Sisters Of The Greater Miami Valley, is happening over at Yellow Cab Tavern tonight. Rock bands Jasper The Colossal, A Shade Of Red, Thunder Taker, Far From Eden, McGuff & The Dumpster Fires, Tiger Sex, Dead Tuth, Duderus and Death By Fetish are all coming together for this special show. Come enjoy a great evening of food, drink, music and art, and make a big difference in the lives of young people in your community. Just $5 at the door, and all ages are welcome! 6pm - 1am.

Another bangin' punk rock show is going down tonight, which is part of a 2 night Skate Punk Invasion. This evening's performance is at Blind Bob's Bar downtown, and features longtime Dayton favorites Legbone The Wastedist The Loveless, and  The Nuckles. (Night 2 is tomorrow in Troy. Read on for details.) Usually $5 cover and starts around 9pm.

Saturday October 8th

Gorgeous weekend for the Yellow Spring Street Fair! From 9am - 5pm, and after parties to boot, it's a full day of fun and sun. Look out for The Gathering folks mid-town. They are always a fun improv group! Stark Folk is performing at 3pm, which is a personal fave as well. Lots of great music all over. Check out the full schedule here.

Oscar's in Vandalia has really been stepping up their original music support, and the scene is supporting them back with the "If you Build it they will Rock It" event, to help support the building of a bigger stage. This benefit features tons of great bands including Eyes Front, Founding Fathers, Krunktown Boogie, Monocle, Scott Lee, The Willy Clark Band, and Zane the Sway. 7pm. 18+ $5 donation at the door.

The second night of the Skate Punk Invasion is happening at The Tavern in Troy tonight. Tonight's lineup includes Legbone and The Wastedist, along with The Frankx, and The Hieronymus Project. Not sure on start time or cover, but I'd assume $5 and around 9pm.

As always, thank you for supporting live music!
