Our friends over at El Meson are getting bigger.

The restaurant at 903 E. Dixie Drive in West Carrollton is doubling the size of its western-side patio located near its entrance.

“Once construction is complete, the new patio will comfortably seat 75 guests with brand new chairs, dining tables and umbrellas. We are especially excited to be adding wood burning fire pits that will add ambiance to the space,” said Marie Castro, an owner.

Established in 1978 by Herman and Gloria Castro, E l Meson spotlights dishes from countries in Central America, South America or the Caribbean.

In true El Meson style, the renovation will be celebrated with food and fun.

The Fiesta A La Familia (a monthly family-style diner) and patio preview party is 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m Wednesday, April 1.

Guests will be treated to eight dishes and a tour of the new patio. Tickets are $37.50 per person and can be purchased in advance at the restaurant or online.

Speaking of patios, El Meson is grabbing votes on our kickass patio poll.

It is an unofficial poll, and is strictly just for fun. You can vote for up to three places once per day.

El Meson was among 13 kickass patios in the Dayton area we recently profiled.

The competition is pretty tight.
