Two new businesses popping up in downtown Dayton

Round 9 of the Activated Spaces Pop-Up Project is delivering two new businesses to the area. Introducing Kneaded Bodies Massage to 29 W. First St., where you can work those knots out of your back muscles with wellness services, including traditional and chair massage, and a host of affordable and natural skincare products. Stop by their grand opening during November's First Friday, Nov. 6.

Give your home a new and wallet-friendly makeover while being environmentally friendly from Baker Salvage Co, 31 St. Clair St., in the St. Clair Lofts. The custom furniture and decor company uses reclaimed wood and salvaged materials to make their stock items and custom-built furniture. You want a new personalized coffee table? They've got you covered. Want some original light fixtures? You draw it, they'll build it. Baker Salvage Co. will open its doors in early November.

If the success of past Pop-Up Project businesses is any indication, these businesses will be a great success. According to the Downtown Dayton Partnership, the project has launched 21 shops (16 of which are still in business), filled about 16,000 square feet of previously vacant space and created 42 jobs. Some of our personal favorites include Spice Paradise and Hicks' Barber Shop and Shave Parlor , Confetti boutique stationary and party supply store , Twist Cupcakery and Sew Dayton.

The Pop-Up Project is volunteer-driven by members of Generation Dayton, UpDayton, the Downtown Dayton Partnership, the City of Dayton, the City of Dayton Neighborhood Mini-Grant program and community volunteers, and feeds into the Greater Downtown Dayton Plan as part of Activated Spaces.
