WGI: Percussion competition proposal makes a bang

There was a bang at the Winter Guard International Percussion World Championships that had nothing to do with drums and everything to do with love.

Bang

A member of the Matrix Performing Arts from Akron dropped to one knee Saturday and popped the big question (yeah, that one) to his girlfriend.

Bart Woodley, the director of operations and sponsor relations for WGI, said the team faked a proposal as part of its routine all season long.

Saturday's proposal was the real thing.
