Business owners can learn more today about a new emissions fee that could hit local manufacturers.

Public Health - Dayton & Montgomery County is considering the new fees for local manufacturers and utilities its Regional Air Pollution Control Agency oversees in six counties in the Dayton region.

An information session for business owners affected by the fee is set for 2 p.m. today at the Montgomery County Business Solutions Center, 1435 Cincinnati St., Dayton.

The proposal is for a new fee of $125 for each permitted air pollution emissions unit.

Dayton Power and Light could pay up to a total of $27,250 in new annual charges under the proposal, according to numbers provided by the health department.

The proposed changes will bring RAPCA funding more in line with other local air agencies in the state and country, the health department previously said.

The Dayton Region Manufacturers Association and Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce have testified against the fees.
