GE Aviation is looking for qualified employees across the Dayton region, and the major Ohio employer is holding a local recruiting event Saturday.
The GE Aviation Dayton career fair will be 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Dayton Marriott University of Dayton, 1414 S. Patterson Blvd., Dayton.
The company has 1,500 employees working in four Dayton-area facilities, sites which see a $1 billion annual investment, according to the company. About 9,000 Ohioans work for the company in total.

Right now, GE Aviation has more than 70 local positions open. The business is looking for engineers, production workers, machinists, test technicians, inspectors, assembly operators and others.

The hiring push is fueled in part by the success of the GE Aviation LEAP jet engine. According to the company, every two seconds, a plane with GE Aviation technology takes off somewhere around the world.

Introduced more than a decade ago, the LEAP is touted as the fastest selling engine in aviation history, with 17,000 orders booked as of March 2019.
