Athleta is opening a store at The Greene, replacing Banana Republic which is a sister brand.

A spokeswoman for the Beavercreek shopping center said Athleta is looking to open by the end of April.

Like Banana Republic, Athleta is also owned by Gap Inc. The retail chain sells athletic and leisure wear.

Kelli Jett, The Greene marketing director, said Banana didn’t close because it went out of business, but because the company made the decision to switch the brands out.

Jett said The Greene officials had customers requesting an Athleta store at The Greene for years “so this is exciting for us.”

Athleta will open at 4435 Glengarry Drive and online job ads are posted for positions at the new store.
