Downtown’s newest activated space: Picture Perfect Paint Parties

Ready to drink and draw, paint and sip or simply have a great time with friends and colleagues?

Then the folks behind Picture Perfect Paint Parties would like a word with you.

Downtown Dayton’s Activated Spaces team is announcing a business location as part of an ongoing project to fill downtown storefronts. Considered the thirteenth phase of the “Pop-Up Project,” Picture Perfect Paint Parties, found in Talbott Tower at 123 N. Ludlow St., will offer painting parties for all ages, paint-and-sip events, corporate workshops, art therapy and more.

Picture Perfect Paint Parties is already fairly well known in the Dayton area. The business has been holding parties across the Dayton area, and owner Dana Calhoun was ready to have a space of her own to host her parties, the Downtown Dayton Partnership said in an announcement.

The Pop-Up Project launched in November 2011, providing potential business owners a shot at shorter leases at below-market rates.

“Since it was started, the project has launched 26 shops (17 of which stayed open past their initial pop-up phase), filled more than 25,000 square feet of previously vacant space and created 43 jobs,” the partnership said.

Pop-Up Shops have included Beaute Box, 20 W. Monument.; Vintage Barber Shop, 110 W. Fifth St.; Peace on Fifth, 234 Dutoit St.; two stores at 16 Brown St., Spice Paradise and Hicks’ Barber Shop & Shave Parlor; Twist Cupcakery, 25 S. St. Clair St.; Baker Salvage, 31 S. St. Clair St.; Mitosis, 14 W. First St; Buckeye Laptops, 133 N. Ludlow St.; and others.
